The OVBS team headed to Burnsville North Carolina the last week of January 2018 to raise an early 1800 barn frame for the Beaty Family of Nashville. The new home site is located at a private residential development just to the south of Burnsville. Home site sits on a long 800’ steep driveway access on the north side of the mountain.
OVBS unloaded the barn frame at the bottom access to the development, then reloaded the frame on a smaller trailer to the top of the mountain site. From there we carefully moved the entire frame down the drive way with a telehandler. There was very limited access around the new house site. The frame was re-assembled in sections (bents) and stood up in place with the use of the telehandler. We fought thru all day rain Sunday and a snowstorm Tueday morning. With alittle creativity we were able to completely reset the frame including rafters in 7 days.
Rob , the owner was there Saturday to help raise the first 2 bents. The barn frames measures 30’x40’ and built between 1810-1815. All the timber were white oak. The original barn frame came from Dalton Ohio area. Jarret & Jarret CM will finish building the balance of the home and hope to be completed by September of 2018.
